CRLT in Engineering Faculty Associate


 
In the 2013 calendar year, Dr. Mark Moldwin is serving as the CRLT in Engineering Faculty Associate. Mark has demonstrated commitment and ongoing dedication to the programs at CRLT in Engineering, and he serves on both the CRLT-Engin and main CRLT Faculty Advisory Boards. He consults with and provides advice for faculty and GSIs and facilitates programs for CRLT in Engineering as needed.
 

Moldwin2013 CRLT in Engineering Faculty Associate
 
Dr. Mark Moldwin is the Associate Chair for Academic Affairs and a Professor of Space Sciences within the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences. He earned a B.A. in Physics with Honors from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 1987 and a Ph.D. in Astronomy/Space Physics from Boston University in 1993. Prior to joining the faculty of U-M in 2009, Dr. Moldwin was a Professor of Space Physics at UCLA (2000-2009), Professor of Physics and Space Sciences at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne (1994-2000), and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Space and Atmospheric Sciences and Non-proliferation and International Security groups at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Dr. Moldwin has been the principal or co-investigator of over 50 externally peer-reviewed scientific projects including building the magnetometers to fly on NASA’s Space Technology. He has taught over a dozen different physics and space science courses, was awarded Florida Tech’s Teaching Excellence Award, UCLA’s Academic Senate’s Distinguished Teaching Award and was rated as a Top Ten Professor by the Associated Students of UCLA. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Reviews of Geophysics.
